What I actually do.

I audit your marketing operations, diagnose what’s broken, and build AI-powered strategies and automation workflows. I don’t execute — I give you the blueprint.

01

Marketing Operations Audit

I conduct a comprehensive audit of your entire marketing operation. I talk to your team, review your systems, and map out exactly how marketing works (or doesn’t) inside your organization.

This isn’t a surface-level review. I dig into inbound channels, outbound sequences, tech stack, team workflows, data flow, attribution, and the gaps between them. I interview stakeholders across marketing, sales, and leadership to understand the full picture — not just the metrics dashboard.

The audit typically reveals 3–5 critical gaps that are costing you leads, conversions, or revenue. Most teams know something is off but can’t pinpoint exactly where. That’s the value of an outside diagnostic.

What this solves: Teams spending budget without understanding what’s actually working. Disconnected tools creating data blind spots. Marketing and sales misalignment on lead quality and handoff.

What’s Included

Full marketing operations reviewStakeholder interviews (6–10 people)Tech stack evaluation & integration mapWorkflow & process mappingInbound & outbound channel auditCompetitive positioning analysisData flow & attribution reviewComprehensive findings report (40–60 pages)

James has an exceptional ability to diagnose complex marketing problems. His audit uncovered gaps we’d been working around for years without realizing it — the findings report alone was worth the engagement.

AI & Automation Strategy

Based on audit findings, I design AI-powered strategies and automation workflows tailored to your specific pain points. If lead scoring is manual, I’ll design an AI-driven system. If nurture sequences are broken, I’ll architect the fix.

The approach is always human-led with technology as the enabler — not the other way around. I don’t recommend tools for the sake of it. Every recommendation maps directly to a problem uncovered in the audit, with clear ROI projections and implementation complexity ratings.

This isn’t a generic “you should use AI” deck. It’s a specific, actionable blueprint: which processes to automate, which tools to use, how they integrate, and what the expected impact is.

What this solves: Manual processes eating your team’s time. Lead nurture that stops after one email. No personalization at scale. Teams overwhelmed by AI hype but unsure where to start.

Funnel & Conversion Architecture

If prospects enter your ecosystem but don’t convert, the funnel is broken. I redesign the path from awareness to customer — identifying exactly where people drop off and building better conversion architectures.

This goes beyond landing page optimization. I map the entire buyer journey: how prospects discover you, what content they engage with, when they become leads, how they’re qualified, what nurture they receive, and where the handoff to sales happens (or doesn’t). Then I redesign the architecture to close the gaps.

For most B2B companies, the biggest conversion killer isn’t the top of funnel — it’s the middle. Leads go cold because the nurture doesn’t match their stage, or because there’s simply no nurture at all between “downloaded a whitepaper” and “talk to sales.”

What this solves: High traffic but low conversion. Leads going cold in the pipeline. No clear path from MQL to SQL. Sales complaining about lead quality.

What set James apart was his ability to connect marketing strategy with real business outcomes. He didn’t just give ideas — he helped bring them to life with systems and workflows that actually worked for our team.

Strategy Roadmap & Handoff

Everything culminates in a complete strategic roadmap your team can execute independently. This isn’t a vague PowerPoint — it’s a detailed, prioritized plan with specific initiatives, timelines, resource requirements, tool configurations, and measurable KPIs.

I present the roadmap in person (or over video), walk your team through every recommendation, answer questions, and hand it off. The document is designed to be self-sufficient — your team or your implementation partners can pick it up and run without needing me.

I also include a priority matrix so you know what to tackle first, what can wait, and what depends on what. Most teams start executing within the first week after handoff.

What this solves: “We had a consultant but nothing happened after.” Strategies too abstract to execute. No clear prioritization. Teams unsure where to start.

The Framework

These aren’t four separate services.
They’re one diagnostic framework.

Every engagement follows the same logic: understand the system, find the breaks, design the fix, hand off the plan. Each service builds on the one before it.

01

Audit

Map the current state. Interview stakeholders. Review every system and workflow.

02

Strategy

Identify gaps. Design AI-powered solutions and automation workflows for each one.

03

Architecture

Rebuild the funnel. Create the conversion path from stranger to customer.

04

Roadmap

Prioritize everything. Hand off a plan your team can execute independently.

What I don’t do

I don’t execute campaigns, manage ad spend, write content, or run your marketing day-to-day. I’m not an agency and I’m not a fractional CMO. I’m a strategist — I come in, diagnose, design the solution, and hand it off. Your team or your partners handle execution.

I also don’t do one-off projects, retainers, or open-ended engagements. Every engagement is 3 months with a defined scope, clear deliverables, and a hard end date. You get independence, not dependency.

Why this matters: Most marketing consultants create dependency — ongoing retainers, vague deliverables, and no clear endpoint. I do the opposite. My goal is to make myself unnecessary. When I hand off the roadmap, your team should never need to call me again.

FAQ

Common questions about services.

A comprehensive diagnostic of your entire marketing operation — tech stack, workflows, data flow, channels, team processes, and competitive positioning. I conduct 6–10 stakeholder interviews, review every active campaign and automation, and map how work actually flows through your organisation. The output is a 40–60 page report with prioritised findings and recommended fixes.

I design the strategy and deliver a complete roadmap — your team or implementation partners execute it. The roadmap is designed to be self-sufficient: every recommendation includes implementation steps, tool configurations, workflow diagrams, and success metrics. I don't create dependency; I create independence.

It means identifying where artificial intelligence and automation can solve specific problems in your marketing operation — lead scoring, content personalisation, workflow automation, predictive analytics — and designing the implementation plan. I don't recommend AI for its own sake. Every AI recommendation is tied to a diagnosed problem and a measurable outcome.

Yes. I design around your current tools whenever possible. If a tool change is genuinely needed, I explain why with evidence from the audit, provide alternatives with comparison criteria, and include migration planning in the roadmap. I'm not affiliated with any vendor — my recommendations are based purely on what fits your needs.

Typically mid-market companies with 50–500 employees and established marketing teams. You have the budget and the people — you need a better strategy and systems to make them effective. I've also worked with larger enterprises (Hotelbeds, a FTSE 100 company) on specific diagnostic projects.

Agencies execute — they run campaigns, manage channels, produce content. I diagnose and design strategy. The output of my work is a roadmap that tells your team (or your agency) exactly what to do and why. Many of my clients use the deliverables to brief their agencies more effectively, resulting in better execution and clearer accountability.
